The 2nd International competition for string bow instruments performers in honour of Pablo Casals

The 2nd International competition for string bow instruments performers in honour of Pablo Casals is held by the Organizing Committee of the international creative project development of children and youth «WORLD MUSIC» in cooperation with the Spanish company «Terramar group», supporting by Tarragona city government, Gerona Conservatory and Bulgarian Committee «Talent Alliance».

Goals and objectives:

To spread classical music through identifying talented performers, the disclosure of borders between different countries through the exchange of creative talent, motivation of children and young people to further success.

Participants

The competition is held on 4 specialties (violin, alto, cello and stringed ensemble):

  • Group A (junior) — aged from 12 to 14(minimum 4 years of study)
  • Group B (middle) — aged from 15 to 18(minimum 5 years of study)
  • Group C (senior) — aged from 19 to 30 (minimum 6 years of study)
  • Group D (stringed ensemble) — aged from 15 to 30 (minimum 5 years of study)

To the nomination «Stringed ensemble», are allowed duets, trio, quartets and quintets.

The age is determined on 30 April, 2017

Younger children are allowed if their program is as complex as in group A, according to the preliminary agreement with the Organizing committee.

It is also allowed the performance of the contestants aged A in group B if their program is as complex as in group B, according to the preliminary agreement with the Organizing committee.

Competition procedure

The order of performances is established by the Organizing Committee and is available to know 2 days before the competition starts.

The second round of groups B and C are allowed not more than 50% of participants.

The winners in each age group in each specialty, the first, the second, the third prize, will be awarded with diplomas of I, II, II degree (laureates). The first degree laureates will be awarded with some cash prizes.

Participants, who took the fourth and the fifth place will be awarded with diplomas (Diploma title).

The other participants are awarded with certificates for their participation.

All the teachers and accompanists receive certificates of international standard for the preparation of contestants.

Preferred the arrival of the contestants with their accompanists. Accompanists Onsite service is paid.

Auditions are public. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to conduct photo and video recording to place in different internet resources.

Gala Concert participants have no right to refuse.

Diplomas after the ceremony are not available to get.

Each competitor will have 10 minutes acoustic rehearsal in the hall.

The Jury consists of renowned musicians from Spain. Italy, Germany, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The jury has right

  • to divide places among the contestants
  • not to award the participants
  • to award with Grand Prix
  • to award with extra nominations

Grand Prix Award is 1,000 euros

Among the prizes — a week-long tour of the cities of Spain

Assessment criteria. Technical clarity, artistry, the brightness of the artistic image, understanding of era’s style.

Financial conditions

The registration fee is 150 Euros, including the application fee foe registration.

In the event of contestants’ failure, registration fee is non-refundable.

Travel to the competition venue and back, staying and board are paid by contestants or sending organization. Upon request accounting documents are issued.

Requirements to the program for all the instruments

Group A. For the younger age the competition is held in one round.

The competitor performs one virtuoso etude solo, concerto (1st or 2nd part of the concert), a virtuoso piece.

Group B and C. The competition is held in two rounds

I round. Bach .2 parts from partita, sonata or Suita solo, a virtuoso piece of Russian composer of 20th century.

II round. concert (1, 2 or 3 part of the concert), virtuoso or cantilena piece at the discretion of the contestants.

The program:

Transfer from Barcelona airport to the competition holding place (and staying place – Costa Dorada) for early or late arrivals there is an individual transfer paying extra. An accommodation in the hotel. Checking in the competition organizing committee. Lunch for the arrived is until 2 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m. There is a cold supper for the people from late flights. *lunch and dinner are for those who booked Standart board.

7.30-8.30 a.m. — breakfast.

9.00 a.m. — transfer to the competition place the trip to Port Aventura Amusement Park an or excursion to Montserrat highland Abbey (for those who don’t participate on this day, having packed lunch).

12.00 — Festival Opening ceremony.

1.00 p.m. – lunch.

7.00 p.m. – dinner.

7.00-8.30 a.m. – breakfast.

9.00 a.m. – transfer to the competition holding place. II competition day.

11.00 — an excursion to Montserrat highland Abbey or to Port Aventura Amusement Park (for those who don’t participate on this day (volunteers having packed lunches).

1.00 p.m. – lunch.

8.30 p.m. – dinner.

7.00–8.30 a.m. – breakfast.

The whole day excursion to Barcelona (packed lunches).

8.00 p.m. – dinner.

7.00–8.30 a.m. – Breakfast.

Free time to relax at the sea. As alternative an excursion to Valencia or Salvador Dali Theatre – Museum in Figueres (packed lunches).

1.00 p.m. – lunch.

3.00 p.m. – transfer. The festival Awards regarding to the competition results.

05.00 p.m. Transfer to the Award Ceremony holding place. Gala Concert. An excursion to Tarragona.

7.00 p.m. – dinner.

8 p.m. — meeting – discussion for group-leaders.

7.00–8.30 a.m. – Breakfast (for those who fly with the early flights the breakfast is received as the packed breakfast). Transfer to the airport. Going home.

Standard package

The cost for staying:

  • in 3 beds room – 430 euros
  • in a double room -450 Euros
  • in a single room – 530 euros

This price includes:

  • Staying in the hotel for 6 nights — 3*.
  • Meals – Breakfast, lunch and dinner (drinks are included). Packed lunch during the excursions.
  • Transfers to the airport – Costa Dorada airport (only on official check-in/-out days. For the guests, staying on the other days, the transfer cost is estimated based on the amount of people and the time). Official arrival time is from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Handouts for participants.
  • Maintenance to the competition location.
  • Barcelona loop tour with seeing Antoni Gaudi’s famous masterpieces (Sagrada Familia temple, Mila and Batllo’s houses as well as Paseo Gracia, Catalonia squares, Montjuic Mountains and Olympic Village). For those who wish to visit Goel Park the enterence ticket costs 8 euros.

1 place for the instructor of the group containing not less than 10 people is free.

Economy package

The cost is:

  • 330 euros for 3 beds room
  • 350 euros for a double room
  • 430 euros for a single room

This price includes:

  • Staying at the 3* hotel for 6 nights.
  • 6 breakfasts.
  • Transfers to the airport – Costa Dorada airport (only on official check-in/-out days. For the guests, staying on the other days, the transfer cost is estimated based on the amount of people and the time). Official arrival time is from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Handouts for participants.
  • Maintenance to the competition location.

For those who wish to book lunches and dinners they cost 4 euros per each (this price is valuable only for booking in advance with a tour. On arrival it will cost 10 euros per each)

For the additional payment you will be able to have:

For solo participants – 20 euros per person

For mini bands (2, 3, 4 people) – 10 euros per person

Excursion to Montserrat abbey (40 Euros)

Trip to PORT AVENTURA Amusement Park children under 10–45 Euros, children older than 10 and the adults – 55 Euros (as extra pay the two ways ticket for public transport costs 10 euros. It’s possible to organize transfer for groups more than 50 people).

Additional nights are 40 Euros for person.

Attention! The organizing committee ask all group-leaders to divide their students and parents following the numbers of people in the room as well as males/females division to avoid extra pay regarding to the hotel price-list.
